America’s Best Honored by Department of Defense for Guard Support
At National Vision, we have made a commitment to hire, retain and develop veterans, National Guard and reserve members, as well as military and veteran spouses throughout all sectors of our organization. We made this commitment because we understand that these individuals bring with them certain skills – such as leadership, integrity, teamwork and a strong work ethic – skills that make them valuable assets to our organization.
Recently, Lisa Bennett, the General Manager of our America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses store in Pinellas Park, FL, was recognized as a patriotic employer by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), because of the extraordinary support she provided to her Florida Army National Guard Associate, Specialist Linh Le. Linh has been a receptionist at America’s Best since April, and has been very appreciative of Lisa’s support and assistance with her Guard obligations.
In accepting this award, Lisa says, “I feel so honored to have been nominated for this award and to work for a company with values and heart.” She adds, “Living in Florida, we see many veterans in our store and it is a true honor to be able to serve them and support an Associate who has answered the call to duty.”
Our America’s Best team in Pinellas Park was also presented with the Ambassador’s Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding support of the 317th Military Police Battalion.
Heidi Henneman, Regional Vice President for the southeast region of America’s Best, adds, “We do everything we can to support and show appreciation for all of our Associates who have answered our nation’s call to serve. It is our responsibility to do so.”
Both awards were presented by a representative of the Florida ESGR program.
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. For more information about the ESGR program please visit www.ESGR.mil.
