A Look Back at Military Appreciation Month 2019

Each May, National Vision recognizes brave Associates, Optometrists, customers, patients and partners who have answered the call to duty, and the family members who support them.

Our gratitude can in no way match our veterans’ and service members’ sacrifices, but during this special month, we acknowledge their contribution by coming together as a company to remember and thank them for their service.

Let’s take a closer look at how we celebrated National Military Appreciation Month this year at National Vision.

Additional Savings During the Month of May

Throughout the entire month of May, active-duty service members, retirees, veterans and their dependents received a 15% discount on eyeglasses, contact lenses and accessories at our America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Eyeglass World locations nationwide.

Honor Wall

This year, our Associates at the Retail Support Center in Duluth, GA were invited to honor and pay tribute to loved ones who have served or are currently serving on our Honor Wall.

We also extended this invitation to our field Associates by asking them to post their pictures and stories on our intranet, allowing Associates across the country to view these photos and stories and show their appreciation and respect for the sacrifices and achievements made by our men and women in uniform.

Military Spouse Appreciation Day

This year we celebrated Military Spouse Appreciation Day by featuring one of our field Associates who was a military spouse to a U.S. Marine. Check out her story here!

We also sent every self-identified veteran spouse a special lapel pin to wear on their jacket or feature at their desk.

Appreciation Breakfast

On May 17th we held a special Appreciation Breakfast for our Atlanta-based Associates who are veterans, veteran spouses or still affiliated with the military.

CEO Reade Fahs was in attendance and posted on his Linkedin account, “We love and so appreciate our veterans, military spouses, and reservists. Thank you all for your service to our beloved country!”

A Small Token of Our Appreciation

For our field Associates who are self-identified as veterans or currently serving in the military, we showed our appreciation for their service with a card and some goodies.

We also caught up with Dr. Forgnoni who practices with Doctor’s Exchange of South Carolina, P.C., an independent optometric practice with multiple offices located inside America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses in South Carolina and who has served our country since May of 2009 as an Optometrist in the Army Reserves.

Remembering Those Who Have Served Every Day

Although Military Appreciation Month has ended, National Vision’s support for our military and veteran community continues.  We encourage all of our Associates to remember, honor and support our service members both past and present every day of the year.
