Military Appreciation Month: More Than a Month of Thanks at National Vision

American FlagAt National Vision, Military Appreciation Month is more than a month of recognition for the outstanding service of the brave men and women of the United States military, and the family members who support them.  Military appreciation happens every day, for every brave Associate, Optometrist, customer, patient or partner who has answered the call to duty.

As a Navy veteran, I am proud to be apart of an organization that stands behind our military.

Commitment to Hire Veterans and Veteran/Military Spouses

In October 2014, we made it a priority to hire, retain and develop veterans throughout all sectors of our organization. We made this commitment because we understand that veterans bring with them certain skills – such as leadership, integrity, teamwork and a strong work ethic – skills that make them valuable assets to our organization.

We also made a commitment to hire veteran/military spouses because they too, have answered the call to duty. The sacrifices they have made for our service members, and our country, should not go unnoticed. Personally, I am inspired by their strength and tenacity to persevere.

Supporting our Military, Past and PresentSoldier

It is an honor to have veterans, National Guard and reserve members, as well as military and veteran spouses working at National Vision. The value they bring to our team is immense – they make us stronger and allow us to fulfill our mission of helping people by making eye care and eyewear more affordable and accessible. We are committed to their success and strive to be a place they are proud to spend their careers.

I have also seen the pride in our team members at our 56 military locations whose role it is to help active, reserve and retired military personnel with their vision needs.  What a tremendous purpose they have.

More Than a Month of Thanks

The fact that we celebrate and recognize our military in May is phenomenal; however, I encourage that we think beyond just one month in the year, but rather we think year round about those who have served, continue to serve, or are part of a military family. I believe that the freedoms we have, as citizens of the United States, and certainly as team members of National Vision, are due in large part to the sacrifices of those who have served our country.

Thank you to all who have served this great nation!
