Hungry for Wellness Knowledge

Associates at Lunch N LearnLunch and Learn educational seminars are a great opportunity for National Vision to feed its Associates extra knowledge regarding overall wellness opportunities.  With each Lunch and Learn, we seek to encourage overall well-being, rather than focusing solely on physical health.

We kicked off the year learning about budgeting and savings through our Wells Fargo at Work program. Associates enjoyed a nutritious lunch while learning steps to develop a financial plan and manage their money. Our presenter helped associates create a personal balance sheet, set financial goals and identify possible causes of overspending.

The second quarter’s Lunch and Learn series introduced heartfulness meditation.  During this session, associates practiced the art of mediation for everyday issues such as stress relief, how to get a better quality of sleep, gaining greater concentration, stimulation of the immune system and an overall improved quality of life, just to name a few.

In quarter three, we partnered with Gwinnett Medical Center’s Center for Weight Management to discuss some of the common myths surrounding weight loss and bariatrics, and the representative also provided some insight into conquering head hunger.  The “Myths about Weight Loss and Bariatrics” presentation addressed the prevalence of obesity, the impact obesity has on one’s health, myths about causes and treatment options as well as dieting myths.  The primary focus of the presentation was to provide information on how individuals could curb their desire to eat multiple times throughout the day.

Our retail Associates can still take part in the educational seminars with pre-recorded webinars focusing on the same topics.

Testimonials

Here are just a few comments about our Lunch and Learn educational seminars:

“As a new associate, it was really wonderful to see fellow associates “hungry” for information related to their health and well-being.  Presenters were well-versed on the topic being presented with lots of handouts and personal contact information on hand.  Following the presentation, it was nice to see the dialogue continue with the presenters and the associates.”Tracy Buchanan, Benefits Manager

“I have been to each lunch and learn session and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them.  They helped me understand the importance of physical and emotional health for my career and as a result, I have seen a notable increase in my energy and critical thinking.  I definitely look forward to more lunch and learn sessions as I continue to progress in my career.”Latrell Hudson, Senior Accountant

Associates at Lunch N Learn“I absolutely enjoyed all of them and truly learned something new from each. I think doing things like these lunch and learns allows us to learn something new or receive updated information provided to us by our employer. Being able to go to these types of events is a good thing.”Renee Streng, Managed Care Biller

I have attended two Lunch and Learns and both were very informative.  They had a lot of valuable information in a 30-minute meeting.  We also received handouts to take home so we could review more details since it was a lot of information in a short time.  I hope we continue to have future Lunch and Learns at National Vision.”Sonya Swansey, Database Administrator
