July 2016 Associate of the Month

Congratulations to our July 2016 Associate of the Month – Ron Refec!

Ron has been part of the National Vision family since October 2014. He was hired as a Systems Support Representative, was promoted to Call Center Report Analyst, and is now our Systems Support Supervisor where he leads a team of 12 associates.

Systems Support is part of the Support Services Department and handles both technical support and store support questions from our retail stores.

Associate of the Month Nomination

July 2016 Associate of the Month Ron RefecSherry Coffey, Support Services and Customer Care Director, nominated Ron to be Associate of the Month for the integral role he played in the new time and attendance system roll-out.

Ron took it upon himself to rework a training manual and make it into a user/support manual for Systems Support to use when supporting the stores. He also conducted classroom training for his associates prior to the launch of the system.

Additionally, Ron has kept other departments up-to-date on all issues and made recommendations on changes that need to be made to the new system. Due to the heavy call volume this new system has generated to the Systems Support team, Ron often worked 7 days a week helping the staff keep up with calls.

Sherry adds, Ron is very dedicated to the department, company and his staff. He often goes above and beyond to ensure that the needs of the company are met.

Ron’s Background

Ron is originally from Romania and came to the U.S. when he was 13 years old.  He has an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Networking from Gwinnett Tech, a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting from DeVry and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Regis University.

July 2016 Associate of the Month when he was in the military Ron is also a veteran.  He served our country in the Marine Corps from April 1996 to August 2000. His Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was 0311, which stands for Rifleman. It is the primary infantry MOS for the Marine Corps.

Prior to working at NVI, Ron worked for Menheim Auto Auction, Realty Smart, and owned and operated a real estate brokerage firm for 10 years.

Working at NVI

When asked why he enjoys working for National Vision, Ron says, “I love working at NVI because of the people here, especially my awesome Systems Support team, and the company’s mission to help those in need.”

More About Ron

Ron Refec with his kids in a parkRon is also a husband and a father.  He and wife Cristina (also a Navy veteran) are parents to Joshwa (14), Grace (12) and Caleb (6).

Ron proves how true the saying, “it’s a small world” really is. He and Cristina are both from the same small city in Romania and knew each other as children.  When their families came to the U.S., they lost touch for more than 10 years until they reconnected at Camp Pendleton during their time in the military!

In his free time (which isn’t a lot with 3 kids!), Ron likes to write and produce contemporary Christian music in his home studio.  He also loves to play the guitar and keyboard, and enjoys wading and trout fishing on the Chattahoochee River.

Congratulations Ron!  We are so fortunate to have you on the team.  From your experience in the military, to your education and background, you add a unique perspective to the Systems Support team!
