Honoring Our Military This May
It is once again Military Appreciation Month and at National Vision, we are honored to have the opportunity to recognize and appreciate those who have served and are serving in our armed forces, and their family members.
This year, we feel incredibly proud to have reservists, veterans and veteran spouses working in all capacities throughout our organization.
We are also proud that we can serve active duty service members and their families by providing quality eye care and eyewear at our 56 Vista Opticals located on military exchanges throughout the United States.
Our Commitment to Hire Veterans and Veteran Spouses
In October 2014, we made a pledge to ensure veteran partnership and inclusion was a priority across all sectors of our organization. As part of this commitment, we set a goal to hire 500 veterans and veteran spouses over the next 5 years. We made this commitment because we understand that veterans bring with them certain skills – such as leadership and a strong work ethic – skills that make them valuable assets to our organization.
Similarly, we recognize the resilient nature of veteran spouses – men and women who have endured countless moves and have also, answered the call to duty. Their resilience and flexibility make them great additions to our company.
We are now proud to have 529 veterans as part of our National Vision family. From Optometrists to Sales Associates, and representing all branches of the military, we are honored to call these individuals one of our own.
Celebrating Military Appreciation Month at National Vision
This month is certainly full of celebrations. We kicked things off with an appreciation breakfast for our veteran and veteran spouse Associates at our Distribution Center in Duluth, GA. Chief Operating Officer, Jeff McAllister, who is a Navy Veteran, was in attendance and presented an American flag pin to each Associate.
Our retail brands are also taking part in the celebration by offering a special discount all month long to active duty, retirees, veterans and their dependents.
Throughout this special month we will also be featuring some of our veteran and veteran spouse Associates in our blog and on our social media channels. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to meet some of these great Associates.
Happy Military Appreciation Month!
