National Vision Associate and Spouse Travel to Trinidad and Help Hundreds

Last month, Tracy McClain, our IT Security Engineer at the Retail Support Center in Duluth, Georgia, along with his wife, Shelly-Ann, traveled to Port of Spain, Trinidad for a Shelly McClain Teaching Ministry’s mission trip.

They traveled to three different areas of the island, one in the inner city, another on the outskirts of the city and lastly, one in a rural area, each at a hosted church.

Over the course of just three days, they were able to see nearly 700 people and distributed 600 readers and provided 200 sunglasses to children and adults. They also provided free blood pressure testing and donated the testers to each church. Tooth brushes and other donated gifts were also distributed.

Mission Trip to TrinidadTestimonials

Shelly-Ann McClain says:

Mission Trip to Trinidad“I have been wanting to do a mission trip to Trinidad for some time now, seeing as this is my home country. My hopes and dreams became a reality when my husband told me about National Vision’s philanthropy program. I was overwhelmed with excitement when we were approved for a mission trip. I was able to take my initial desire of giving back to the community and build it with a lasting impression with the support of National Vision’s donations. The ‘See a Difference’ mission trip was an experience like no other. It was very fulfilling to have been part of a humanitarian and ministry event that provided a solution to a need that helped elevate and impact others!”

She adds:

“We are so happy with the outcome of our mission trip that we plan on doing this every year going forward! We made a huge impact with the communities we visited. It’s a wonderful feeling to see the happiness it brings to those we helped improve their vision. It’s great to touch the life of just one person, but when you can extend that to a larger crowd, the hard work and long hours are minimalized with the end results. My organization looks forward to being a partner in many more events to come!”

Tracy McClain says:

Mission Trip to Trinidad“This mission trip was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I always wanted to help others in need and things just came together when I was able to connect my wife’s ministry with NVI’s mission trip support. I consider our mission trip to have been a huge success, considering the few individuals involved compared to the number of people we assisted. We are already making plans for our next mission trip.”
